10 Ways to Earn Money for Your Adoption

By Leave a Comment

Inside: 10 ways to earn money for your adoption

You have made the decision to adopt, but the cost of private adoption can be overwhelming.

From the home study to finalization, all of the costs can add up to be more than most people have available.

So what do you do?

Start earning and saving in any way possible

In addition to fundraising, we picked up some odd jobs to earn extra money in our free time.

This post may contain affiliate links. If you click on a link and purchase the item, I will receive a commission at no extra cost to you. All opinions remain my own and I love these products. Thank you for supporting this blog!

I have spent a ton of time finding ways to make money online, especially as we were trying to save for our adoption.

There are scams out there, but the sites below I use to earn extra cash and they are legit.

5 Easy Ways to Make money online

These 5 ways to make money online don’t take a lot of energy and can be done from almost anywhere.

I was able to make some money here and there doing these things, but didn’t make a ton of money…but every little bit helps.

1. take Surveys

You won’t make a ton of money taking surveys online, but it can be fun and I have made anywhere from $20-$60 a month.

To earn that much, you have to sign up for multiple survey sites.

It’s easy to do while watching TV or waiting at the doctor’s office, and you don’t have to put much thought into it.

I have used the sites below, and they all will send the money you earn directly to your PayPal account.

1. Survey Junkie

2. Vindale Research

3. Inbox Dollars

2. ibotta

Ibotta is a great coupon app. I use it all the time and it works with so many different stores like Target and Walmart.

You can also use it when shopping online and I even saw today that you can get money back at gas stations.

Ibotta is always adding new retailers and places you probably already shop.

You do have to spend money to make money with Ibotta, but you would be buying these items anyway. So why not earn some cash back and put it towards your adoption!?

I have used Ibotta regularly and in the last few months and earned over $100 back.

3. caption videos

I tried a few transcription sites that paid very little, so I didn’t stick with them.

But I did caption videos for Rev and made decent money. You have to learn about their formatting and take an assessment, but it’s not super hard.

And once you get started, you choose the videos you want to caption and payment is sent to your PayPal account every Monday.

4. Test or rate Websites

I did some work through User Testing to earn cash on the side.

Appen also hires for part time, remote work to rate websites or social media ads. They usually have job openings for various positions and I have worked for them before as well.

These companies pay cash either through PayPal or direct deposit.

5. Complete online tasks

Clickworker is an online platform that allows you to complete various tasks and get paid.

After you sign up, you will see different jobs posted that pay different rates.

I liked Clickworker because they also have an app that allowed me to work from my phone when I had free time.

5 More ways to make money online

The jobs below are not as easy to complete as the ones soley, but they will earn or save you a little more money.

1. Mystery Shop

There are a few companies that will pay you to go to stores or restaurants and mystery shop.

I went through Bestmark a few years ago and did one or two shops a month with them.

The ones that I did were mainly restaurants and they reimbursed me for our meal and they paid a little bit more on top of that.

Even though the pay wasn’t that high, you are getting a free meal or service which can help you save money.

2. Sell on Ebay

When we started our adoption journey, I sold a bunch of clothes, shoes, and bags on Ebay.

And I made about $800 in a month from sales.

I only sold my clothes and items I found around the house, but there are ways you can make even more money with Ebay.

Alexia, at The Liberated Mommy, has some great tips on finding items at thrift stores and selling them for profit.

See how she earns an extra $500 a month.

3. Pet Sit

Sign up with Rover to be a dog walker or pet sitter.

You can care for pets in your home or go for short visits throughout the day.

You set your own pay rate and Rover takes a small commission, but it’s a great way to make extra money on your own time.

4. Shop for other people

Sign up to be a shopper for InstantCart.

I signed up right before B came, and it was an easy process to get hired, but then she came and I never actually got to work .

But I know other people who enjoy it and it’s something you can do in your free time.

5. Teach English Online

If you have a Bachelor’s degree in any subject, you can teach English to kids in China through VIPKid.

They provide all of the lesson plans in a slide type format and each session is 25 minutes.

You teach through the webcam on your computer and interact with the students through their online classroom.

I enjoyed teaching for VIPKid, but the job requires you to have A LOT of energy and be very animated at 5:00 am.

Hopefully some of these ideas will help you add to your adoption fund.

Just remember as you are doing odd jobs for $1-10 at at time, every little bit helps.

I love starting new traditions with my little fami I love starting new traditions with my little family 🥰

Last year, while out of state waiting for B, my husband and I enjoyed Thanksgiving at Waffle House, the ONLY place open nearby. We couldn’t even find a grocery store that wasn’t closed.
So we decided to do it again this year. All three of us.

This past year has gone by in a flash. Exactly on This past year has gone by in a flash.
Exactly one year ago today, I was shopping in Target when I got the (first) call that baby was on the way.
I have never left a Target so quickly in my life AND left an entire cart full of stuff in the middle of the store.
We packed quickly that night, rushed home, and loaded up the dogs to take to grandma’s house.
And Archie had to ride in the car seat the entire way. 🤦🏼‍♀️ It’s crazy how clearly I remember that moment. And all of the wild emotions we would experience.
And we would experience it all again exactly one week later.

Sometimes I need a reminder to stop worrying so mu Sometimes I need a reminder to stop worrying so much about next week or next month. Getting this or that done, and just enjoy the moments I have with my family and our new little one 💙
One of the best things we did while waiting for IC One of the best things we did while waiting for ICPC to clear us to go home was get newborn pictures taken! I think most photographers suggest doing them around 10 days old, the ones we checked with said this anyway, so it was the perfect time. She was almost a month old when we got home, so I am so glad we got these done before leaving Florida.

We got lucky and found an amazing photographer who fit us into her schedule. I definitely would suggest looking around in the state you may adopt from if this is something you would like to have done. It also gave us something to do during that three week wait 😊
Can’t believe it’s already been three months s Can’t believe it’s already been three months since we crossed this bridge and we were on the way to meet our daughter! Some days I still can’t believe it 💫
